Preduck: Free Lookahead Ducker Plugin by Low End Candy
Low End Candy has released Preduck, a streamlined utility designed to automate pre-transient volume dips across your mix. If you need a reliable free ducking plugin in 2026, this tool eliminates the tedious routine of manually editing automation curves ahead of snares and impact hits. You can download the installer directly at zero cost from the developer.
Smart Pre-Transient Ducking
Producers routinely automate short gain cuts right before a snare crack or kick transient to preserve headroom and make punchy elements cut through dense arrangements. Preduck applies this classic mixing technique automatically via lookahead detection. Rather than waiting for a transient peak to trigger a traditional sidechain, the processor ramps down incoming audio just before the transient lands, delivering cleaner transients without aggressive limiter pumping.
The plugin lets you adjust both the depth of the attenuation and the curve timing, making it simple to carve out subtle breathing room or prominent dynamic dips across synths, guitars, or sub-mixes.
